Why settle for less? Get her the diamond ring she deserves. Find a fine private jewelry store that offers 0% deferred interest financing for at least 12 months. Just make certain that you make your payments on time or else you will be charged maximum interest on the entire purchase from the day you bought the jewelry. Just a word of caution when using interest free financing. Also, if you intend to transfer the balance at the end as you may not make the pay off by the end date- make sure you begin the balance transfer a month in advance as with many banks it takes 2-4 weeks to complete the actual transfer!! Yikes! If you were to be unlucky enough to be caught in the middle of the transfer you would still have to pay a balance transfer fee, all of the accrued interest and the interest (if any) on the new card it is being transferred over to. Just looking out for my jewelry seeking friends out there.

Cut is the factor that fuels a diamond’s fire, sparkle and brilliance.
The traditional 58 facets in a round brilliant diamond, each precisely cut and defined, are as small as two millimeters in diameter. But without this precision, a diamond wouldn’t be nearly as beautiful. The allure of a particular diamond depends more on cut than anything else.
Though extremely difficult to analyze or quantify, the cut of any diamond has three attributes: brilliance (the total light reflected from a diamond), fire (the dispersion of light into the colors of the spectrum), and scintillation (the pattern of light and dark areas and the flashes of light, or sparkle, when a diamond is moved).
People often think of diamond cut as shape. Round is the shape used in most diamond jewelry. All other shapes are known as fancy shapes. Traditional fancy shapes include the marquise, pear, oval and rectangle. Hearts, triangles and a variety of others are also gaining popularity in diamond jewelry.
As a value factor, though, cut refers to a diamond’s proportions, symmetry and polish. For example, look at a side view of the standard round brilliant. The major components, from top to bottom, are the crown, girdle and pavilion. A round brilliant cut diamond has 57 or 58 facets, the 58th being a tiny flat facet at the bottom of the pavilion that’s known as the culet. The large, flat facet on the top is the table. The proportions of a diamond refer to the relationships between table size, crown angle and pavilion depth. A wide range of proportion combinations are possible, and these ultimately affect the stone’s interaction with light.
In early 2005, GIA unveiled a diamond cut grading system for standard round brilliants in the D-to-Z color range. This system, the product of years of intensive research and testing, assigns an overall diamond cut grade ranging from Excellent to Poor.
HOW DOES PAVILION DEPTH AFFECT A DIAMOND’S CUT?
The distance from the bottom of the girdle to the culet is the pavilion depth. A pavilion depth that’s too shallow or too deep will allow light to escape through the sides or the bottom of the stone. A well-cut diamond will direct more light through the crown.”

Engagement Ring Financing
Should I finance the engagement ring?
Is financing or layaway for an engagement ring or jewelry available and should I use it?
The answer to the first question is yes. Most jewelry stores offer financing and from what I see it is easy to get approved.
When considering financing, mind the interest rate, and length of time the interest is locked in for, or better yet, if the rate is deferred at 0%. A lengthy and low deferred interest rate gives, an individual who has savings, the ability to invest that money elsewhere all while obtaining the ideal engagement ring. It also can greatly assist you in obtaining a great looking diamond without breaking your bank.
Keep mind that a 12 month 0% deferred interest rate usually comes with the understanding that if not paid in full within a year, then the entire original balance will incur interest at the higher %, no matter how much remains of the original balance. The same goes for being late on a payment or missing a payment. You don’t want this. I know from making the mistake myself in the past. Always remember that credit card and financing companies are trying to make a profit and little mistakes such as this are how they do it. So, make sure that you keep up with your bill cycle. Auto pay is something I highly suggest.
